How To Cite An Interview That Is Published

When citing published interviews, indicate the full name of interview and interviewee. In the case where the interviews name is part of a greater work such as a television program, film series or a book, add the interviews title in quotation marks, then add the greater works title in italics. Where the interview appears to be an independent title, you need to place it in italics. If it is a book, indicate the name of the editor or author after the title of the book.

Key to note when learning how to cite an interview is that there are interviews with no titles. If the interview youre quoting doesnt have a title, indicate the descriptor Interview after you have placed the name of the interviewee and before the name of the interviewer. To cite a personal interview that occurred on more than one day, begin by following the MLA format template. In general, treat the person being interviewed as the author. Then follow the guidelines on pages 2829 of the MLA Handbook and include the description interview as the Title of source element. You may list the interviewers name as an Other contributor after the description. In the Publication date slot, treat the dates of the interview as a range if they are consecutive:

number, publication date, page range.

Use this same format for broadcast interviews, substituting the title of the program for the periodicals title. Instead of a volume and/or a number, include the episode number, if applicable and available.

How To Cite A Lecture Or Speech In Mla Format

Any time you use a fact, a figure, or other information from a source to support your position in a piece of academic writing, you need to cite the source you used for that information. This is true no matter where you got the information, be it a book, an article, a television show, or a live speech.

Citing a source notes information that came from a source other than your own observations or insights. It involves crediting that sources author and publisher and including any other relevant information about the people and/or groups who created that source. If a piece of information you cite in your work came from a lecture you attended or a speech you listened to, your citation needs to credit the speaker, their platform, and when relevant, any others who contributed to the information you referenced.
