What If Youre The One Being Interviewed
If youre being interviewed, the best thing you can do is be yourself. The moments when you get lost in what youre saying and feel like you said nothing or didnt make sense are probably the best moments. Thats when you werent feeling self-conscious and just flowed. Especially if you start to feel passionate about something youre saying, lean into that and do it more! If your interviewer doesnt ask you something that you really want to say, be bold enough to ask if they have time for you to share a bit more.
Remember you cant say anything wrong. That can be an instant confidence boost. Speak slowly and take your time to answer but dont worry too much about saying it exactly right. If you get so nervous or overwhelmed that you cant talk, dont be afraid to ask for a quick break or just close your eyes and take a deep breath. Reset yourself and then keep going.
Practice Your Speaking Voice And Body Language
Its important to make a positive and lasting impression during the interview process. You can do this by practicing a confident, strong speaking voice and friendly, open body language. While these might come naturally to you, you might also want to spend time performing them with trusted friends or family or in front of a mirror. Pay special attention to your smile, handshake and stride.

Theres Such Great Detective Work And Dialogue In The Show But There Are Also Incredible Fight Sequences What Was It Like To Film Those
Early on I thought that this show was just going to be a bunch of fights, one after another. Luckily the show ended up being so much more than that. That said, that propensity towards violence is a huge part of who Reacher is. He lives outside of the law and makes his own set of rules, especially when it means bringing people to justice or protecting the innocent. So it was important for us to get those fights right because they have a purpose to his story.
The fights had to be done with that surgical precision and brutality that his past has given him. Thats what hes known for. So we had to adapt my personal fighting style, which is this brawler style mixed with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that Ive done onscreen before. For these I had to break it down deeper and make it a lot more specific. Theres a line that Lee Child writes that Reacher uses his elbows like axes and I worked with our stunt coordinator Buster Reeves to bring that energy. Luckily we had months to prep for each one. People can look forward to a big battle every episode. I dont think fans will be disappointed.

Andrew May Face Court Over His 15m Mansion
The Duke of York sold the luxury property for £15million in 2007 to Kazakh tycoon Timur Kulibayev in a deal shrouded in controversy, however he now faces being dragged into another court case over allegations his mansion was bought by the billionaire to launder millions in dirty cash.
His lawyers say the report is false, as law enforcement agencies conducted a three-year probe into the sale of Sunninghill Park, with no further action taken.
Its contested report said he had been engaged in transactions to embezzle several hundred million dollars from the sale of Kazakh state-owned assets.
That was then laundered through Europe-based bank accounts and property purchases, including Sunninghill Park.
Mr Tiku is also accused of helping Mr Kulibayev launder around £450million in other enterprises.
Mr Tikus lawyers say the allegations had all been investigated by Swiss and Kazakh law enforcement, and no charges were brought.
They also accuse the cyber security firm of wrongfully processing his personal data.
Mr Tiku, reported to have a net worth of £1.63billion, is demanding damages of £50,000.
Treat Your Video Interview Like A Conversation
This is key for any interview, but its especially important to treat your video interview like a conversation because thats the only way youll be able to make a connection. You dont have the time before and after the interview to make small talk, so its important to make sure you build rapport during your interview. Be more personable. Be yourself. You want to talk like youre talking to someone you know well while still remaining professional, Turner says.
Make sure your video call is not just question, answer, question, answer, Eonnet says. When your interviewer responds to your answers, feel free to comment on their responses if you have more to say. And sprinkle your own questions throughout your conversation whenever theyre appropriate rather than waiting for the end. You want your interviewer to see you as someone they could talk to every day, not just someone they read a list of questions to.
As a job seeker, you have the same goal in a video interview and an in-person interview: to show that youre the right person for the job. We dont want to lose focus on the heart of what needs to be done, Eonnet says. Ultimately, you want to spend as little time as possible during a video interview focused on the video part. What counts is the connection you can make with an interviewer.

How Do One Way Video Interviews Work
A one-way video is a pre-recorded interview where a candidate essentially speaks to the camera rather than a human recruiter. This might be a bit disconcerting because you cannot gauge an interviewers reaction with the responses you give .
In one way videos, the interview process is initiated using a tool or software where the recruiter lists a set of questions in a text or video format, allowing the interviewee to respond in a given time frame. Usually, the recruiter provides a specific deadline to take the interview, which gives the job seeker or interviewee an opportunity to prepare for questions.
Though the deadlines to complete the interview usually range from 2-3 days, a few might even give applicants up to 7-10 days, depending on the employers hiring urgency.
Once the interview is done, the hiring manager can evaluate these recordings in order to decide if a candidate is good enough to make it to the next round or not. In certain cases, if the tool or software is advanced, it uses Facial analysis and AI to assess the candidates.
Although this type of interviewing speeds the hiring process, this screening method might be uncomfortable for applicants.
How To Film An Interview With One Camera
You dont need multiple cameras to shoot a great interview. Frame your interviewee in a mid shot, positioned to the side, keeping in mind the rule of thirds. Position your interviewer to the right of the camera or behind the camera just to the side .
Because youre framing a mid shot, filming in 4K is really helpful. This will make it possible to edit your business or documentary video without jump cuts by punching in to a close up using editing software.

Best Practices On Framing Equipment Sound And More
Whoever youre interviewing, no matter who they are, will be interesting to watch because humans enjoy looking at human faces. When framing your shot, favor a plain background over visually distracting elements. Placing your interviewee further away from the wall behind them will give the frame depth and look better than sitting close to a wall.
Using a shotgun microphone and external recorder for sound will make a big difference in sound quality. Since your interviewee is sitting still, you can set up your shotgun mic in a fixed location using a C-stand to hold it. Position the mic above your interviewees head and point it down toward them. You want the mic just out of frame, yet close enough that youll need to remind them not to bump their head when they stand up!
If you can add it, a lavalier microphone is always helpful. Learning how to use a broadcast loop/newsmans loop will give you the best audio result and keep your equipment in good shape.
Do Your Background Research On Your Video Interviewee
Know the background information about the person youre interviewing. What are their specialty topics? What are their passions? What can they speak authoritatively about? Part of your goal is to make your interviewee look good, so talk about areas you know are strengths for them. Doing this should allow you to pull out the story that you want.

Prioritize Your Most Important Questions
You always want to have a lot more questions than you need and you want to prioritize those questions quickly while youre filming an interview. A color coded system works at a glance so you can be sure you ask what is really necessary without rushing.
Getting complete sentences can be tricky. Preparing some fill-in-the-blank sentences can help in repeat after me style. You dont want to put words in someones mouth butyou do need those sound bites. Inviting your interviewee to repeat your prompts or put the sentences in their own words is a good practice. Also, give them permission to skip any of the prompts.

Prepare Questions For The Virtual Interview
As an interviewer, you may be dealing with your own challenges so having a strategy for virtual interviewing is critical. Before your virtual meeting with the job candidate, you need to prepare for it just as you would for in-person interviewing.
For example, put together a list of questions related to the role and the candidate’s past experience.
“All questions should be related to the job and the candidates’ experience, nothing personal,” O’Camb said.
Consistency is key, as well.
“You should be asking the same questions for all of the candidates that you’re evaluating,” O’Camb said. “This makes it a fair and objective process.”
A good example of some questions to ask are behaviorally-based questions that cover the candidate’s last jobs and how they reacted in certain situations.
“The idea behind is past behavior predicts future behavior,” O’Camb said. “It’s a good way to see how candidates have handled similar situations in the past that they may experience in the job that you’re interviewing them for.”
Explain Any Long Pauses
Because of the various limitations of video calls, it might not always be clear to your interviewer what youre doing if no one is speaking. Tell them if youre pausing to write down a few notes, pull up some information for them, or even just formulate your answer to a question. This shows that youre aware of their experience while also reassuring them that no technical glitches have occurred.

Make Sure You Have The Right Devices Available
If you have no other options, you can probably use your smartphone for this interview, assuming it has a camera. However, you will very likely make the best impression using a camera connected to a computer, assuming the computer also has a microphone and a speaker
Double-check with the interviewer if you need to use your smartphone.
When possible, test the connection to be sure it works before the interview regardless of device used.
In advance, test your microphone and camera to be sure that they work. Even perfect answers to the questions wont make an impact if they cant hear your answers or see you talk.
What Interests You About This Job Role
- Why do recruiters ask this: To know if you have really understood the job description and the responsibilities that come with the role.
- How to answer it: Be precise because this question is a great opportunity to showcase your skills again. Explain things that you not just enjoy doing but also excel at.

Practice Calling On Zoom
Arrange to call a friend or family member using Zoom. Practice using all the features, including mute, screen sharing and raising your hand.
Ask whether your friend/family member can see and hear you, adjusting the lighting and sound settings as needed.
If they report hearing an echo, Zoom has an audio echo troubleshooting guide. This will guide you through how to fix the problem.
Practice And Tech Set Up
To get used to the technology and the body language of a video interview, its useful to do some practice video calls with friends or family members. Ask them to give you candid feedback about your appearance and eye contact. Run through it a few times until things start to feel natural.
This practice can make all the difference in your interviews. Set aside time in your schedule in the weeks and days leading up to your interviewyoull find your confidence growing as you become more comfortable in front of the camera.
On the day of your interview, review this checklist as youre setting up:
Ensure that you wont be interrupted, either by locking the door or by alerting others that you cant be disturbed .
Clear the desk space, except for a notepad and pen/pencil for you to take notes.
Have a copy of your resume and any other notes ready for you to reference.
Set out a glass or bottle of water for yourself.
Check that your webcam is working.
Check that your audio is working.
Close any windows, tabs or applications on your computer that youre not using.
Check your internet connection and make sure youre not downloading anything in the background.

Choose Your Location Carefully
Choose a quiet spot where, hopefully, you will be the only person visible .
Dont make the mistake of trying to do this interview in a busy place with many distractions around. Keep the interview background as simple as possible, like a wall, or something else that is unlikely to cause a problem or create a distraction.
If possible, have a light showing on your face from in front of you so that your face is well lit. Test the lighting to find the best position for it a lamp which is slightly above your face and behind the camera, shining on you, is usually the most flattering.
Tips To Master Your One
Use these tips to ace your one-way video interview:
Use a timer. Many one-way video interviews have a time limit. Stay on top of it by using a timer on your computer or phone and glance at it to be sure youre on track.
Look at the camera. Similar to how youd look at the employer during a conversation, you should maintain eye contact with your camera. If you need notes for your responses, make sure to only briefly glance at them.
Use your authentic voice. Many people have the tendency to talk in a higher pitch than they normally would when they get in front of the camera. While you should sound upbeat and personable, make an effort to use your typical talking voice. This can help your video seem more authentic.
Dress for an interview. Wear business attire in your video to show employers youre taking this opportunity seriously. Of course, the benefit of a video interview is that you only need to dress nice from the waist up, since thats all employers will see. If you want to get into the mindset of an actual interview, you may still want to dress professionally from head to toe.

Camilla Says She Loves Saucy Moments
Camilla attended a reception at Clarence house where she greeted one of the country’s most decorated Paralympians.
Sir Lee gave the duchess a copy of his book, I Am Who I Am, and told her: “There are some saucy moments in it.”
The delighted duchess cheekily replied: “I love saucy moments. I shall look forward to reading it.”
Camilla who is patron of the British Equestrian Federation, hosted the reception to celebrate the success of equestrians at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, held in Japan last year.
This time in 2020, the Government was forced to carry out an embarrassing climb down over the same issue.
At the time, the Sun revealed that an email was sent to councils reminding them to display the Union flag on February 19 to mark the Duke’s 60th.
Following backlash at Andrew’s exit from royal duties over his links to paedo Jeffrey Epstein, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport advised this is not a requirement.
But despite that, guidance to local councils has still not been updated to remove the Duke of York’s birthday from designated flag-bearing days.
