    • you can simply scan all the documents into an electronic file and save it as your portfolio
    • you can develop a presentation online using any number of applications including PowerPoint

    • you can use Google Docs to create and edit your portfolio

    Whatever format you select for your portfolio the content you include is key to the impact it makes. Having a well organized portfolio full of meaningful and relevant content to present in your teaching interview will give you a distinct advantage.

    There are three steps to ensure the longevity of a portfolio:

    Keep updating it.

    You will improve with every project, and an outdated portfolio will not represent your current form in your field. For example, I am a blog writer at my current workplace, but my role has expanded to include video scripts, which I ought to add to my portfolio so that the new skills are also a part of my work history. Further, translate your work into the current format. Are you a marketing consultant? Make sure the statistics are front and centre. Are you an events coordinator? Make sure that media coverage and crowd testimonials are in the fore.

    Be honest.

    If you have produced a piece of work as a team, then make sure to mention what your individual contribution was right from the get-go.     For your portfolio, think of at least three different examples of situations that not only show off your top skills, but that also fall into a soft-skills category such as leadership or teamwork. Use one page for each example and write one or two sentences for each step of STAR. During your interview you can verbally expand on each, but for the portfolio keep it short and simple.

  • Time. Consider time as early as the planning phase. It makes a major difference if you have 10 minutes or 30 to showcase your work. Have a plan âAâ and âBâ.
  • Complexity. Present your work in an easy-to-understand way. You can also give a layout to your interviewers. If the project is in a field with lots of jargon and complex concepts, keep their use to a minimum or explain them in brief.
  • Show excitement. Design leads want to work with passionate people who love and care about what they do.
  • Come prepared and open to common UX designer interview questions. If they ask you about the details, they want to know more about you and your way of thinking â a good sign! They wonât judge you on your design decisions, as they donât have enough information to do so. They just want to see you have made conscious, well-thought-out decisions.
  • Open the floor for questions. Your interviewers will have questions regardless, so this is more of an act of courtesy.
  • Ask for feedback. Show your openness and your desire to improve. If you can, take some notes as well! And donât forget to thank them for their time.
