Why Is A Thank

A thank-you email after a Zoom interview, just as with an in-person interview, is a great way to follow up with the hiring manager and express your gratitude. It shows the hiring manager you’re passionate about the position and the potential to work with them. If the hiring manager had a lot of video interviews, sending a thank-you email also reminds them about your experience, what you discussed during the interview, and why you’re a good fit for the role.

Smoothing Out The Edges

When you have a draft of your interview thank-you email complete, you will want to proofread it at least twice. You dont want to rely on the spellcheck and grammar correction tools alone.

Double-check the spelling of names, your sentence structure, and if any words you intended to use are missing. After you have done your best to polish your thank-you email draft, get a second pair of eyes on it if you can. You will be surprised at how quickly a fresh perspective will reveal some of the details you may have overlooked.

Thank The Recipient For The Interview

The body of your email can begin with thanking the interviewer for their time and for conducting the interview with you. This can be a brief sentence or two expressing your gratitude for the opportunity to speak with them. You can also include the date you interviewed to help refresh their memory or to use for future reference.

Keep It Short And Mind Your Structure

In the same vein, dont suddenly write a novel about how much you love the company or the person you talked to. You may have many things to tell this recruiter or hiring manager, but try to stick to one main point, question, or fun fact.

Personally, if Im reading a thank-you email longer than five sentences, Ive probably started to wonder if the time to read it was worth my investment. Knowing how to write a thank you email after an interview is a valuable skill. Trust me.

    Who To Write A Thank

40 Thank You Email After Interview Templates á? TemplateLab

In general, itâs a good idea to share a thank-you note with everybody you interviewed with individually, from recruiter to hiring manager to potential colleague. If you donât already have their contact info, request it from your main point of contact throughout the hiring process , explaining that youâd like to thank them for taking the time to speak with you. If you had a panel interview, you might want to save your time by sending one email to the main interviewer with everybody else CCâd.

If you spoke to many different people â say, you presented to a room of 10 or more â itâs probably not practical, or a good use of your time, to include each and every one of them. In this case, you can follow the same procedure you would in a panel interview: Send one note to the main interviewer with several of the key players CCâd.

Dear Ms. Johnson and Mr. Martin:

I enjoyed speaking with you and the rest of the team today about the administrative assistant job at ACME. I was excited to hear about your plans for the third quarter, and the goals and challenges you described.

Thank you again for taking the time to interview me. Im very interested in the job and happy to provide references. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,

Bonus Tip: Send An Individual Note To Each Person You Met With

Sometimes you interview with several people in one day, which means each person gets a thank-you note. While it might be a pain to personalize every thank-you note , do it anyway.

This shows that you took the time to learn about each interviewer, demonstrating you are a detailed and thoughtful person. Its fine to use the same opening and closing , but make sure you mention one unique thing for each interviewer. If nothing else, you never know when the recipients are comparing notes to see if you created a unique thank-you note for each of them!

And be sure to triple check the name at the top! Copying and pasting can be a dangerous game.
