Senior Recruiter Interview Questions And Answers

Q8 What Is Your Greatest Weakness

Senior Recruiter Katy describes questions she asks in the Citizens Bank interview process.

Ans: Most interviewees actually dread this question, and rightly so. Potential employers are well aware of the fact that job candidates are people so knowing their faults allows them to get a bigger picture of that person. When answering this question, it is easy to draw a lot of negative attention to oneself. Avoid that by providing a positive but honest answer.Think carefully about this question. Everyone has a weakness, whether it is focusing too much on the details or always saying yes or prioritising smaller work projects. The best response should include a small, work-related flaw that wont mean that the interviewer’s interest is terminated there and then. Be sure to include the efforts made to manage this ‘fault’ and turn it into something positive.

Walk Me Through Your Resume

Like Tell me about yourself, this question is a common interview opener. But instead of framing your answer around what qualities and skills make you best for the position, your answer should group your qualifications by your past jobs and tell your career story. You might choose to tell this story chronologically, especially if theres a great anecdote about what set you on this path. Or, as with Tell me about yourself, you can begin with your present job then talk about what brought you here and where youre going next. But regardless, when you speak about your past and present, highlight your most relevant experiences and accomplishments for this job and wrap up by talking about the future, i.e. connect your past and present together to show why this job should be the next one you add to your resume.

What Is Your Opinion About Referral Programs Do You Plan To Incorporate Them In Your Work

This is a tricky question. Referral programs work well when they are unique. When each company has a referral program, however, and pays rewards to existing employees for bringing new people onboard, the entire concept loses its meaning, and becomes ineffective. At least thats my experience.

You can say that you will talk to HR managers, discuss the existing reward program. You can say that you will also talk to employees, to get their feedback on the program, and whether it motivates them to talk to their friends about the job opportunities in the company. Then you will act accordingly.

But I suggest the following: Ensure the interviewers that you wont rely only on the referral program. You believe in your recruiting abilities, and you will do your best to find quality people for the companyregardless of the referral program or other things.

Always Act Like You Want The Job

You have one goal in any interview: Convince them that youre the best candidate for the job and get invited to the next round.

So you should be selling yourself in the interview, not deciding if the job is desirable.

Then you can go digest the info and make a decision once you get home. If you start using this approach youll have a big advantage throughout the entire interview because youll have one single thing to focus on. Other applicants will be juggling everything at once.

Think Of Two Reasons Youre Interested In The Company

How Older Job Seekers Can Appear Younger PLUS sample resume

Use the company research youve done to come up with a business-related reason youre excited about them. It could be a new business model, new clients, new partnership, etc.

Actual example: I recently had a phone interview with a tech company that was built as a review/info website. They recently started handling transactions instead of sending the buyers out to other websites to complete the transaction. I read this in the news and mentioned it as an exciting development and a really good business move. The interviewer was extremely impressed that I had read the news, and understood the implications. Total time spent researching: less than 3 minutes.

Along with one business reason, try to come up with a secondary reason too. Maybe community involvement. Or company culture. Almost every company has a blurb about their culture on the website. Read it and mention what you read as a secondary reason for being interested.

Youll seem extremely well-prepared and well-rounded for having two very different reasons.

Possible Answer To Whats Your Work Style

I tend to do my best work when Im collaborating with colleagues and were working together toward a common goal. I was that rare student who loved group projects and now I still get a rush of excitement when Im planning marketing campaigns with a team and bringing new and different voices into the fold. When I was working at XYZ Agency, I made it a habit to extend invitations to folks in different departments to join certain brainstorming and feedback sessions. Some of our most successful campaigns grew out of the ideas we generated together with coworkers in IT, HR, product, and customer success. Thats why I was so excited to learn that this role would have me working closely with the product and sales teams as well as with a talented marketing team. The other thing I find is crucial to making these collaborations successful is organization and documentation, so Im also really big on creating one central home for all materials related to a project, including meeting notes, action items, drafts of campaign copy and visuals, and timelines.

Although this washopefullya one-time event, Ive always been able to stay calm during stressful situations, figure out a solution, and then act. Possible Answer To Tell Me About A Challenge Or Conflict Youve Faced At Work And How You Dealt With It

Funnily enough, last year I was part of a committee that put together a training on conflict intervention in the workplace and the amount of pushback we got for requiring attendance really put our training to the test. There was one senior staff member in particular who seemed adamant. It took some careful listening to understand he felt like it wasnt the best use of his time given the workload he was juggling. I made sure to acknowledge his concern. And then I focused on his direct objection and explained how the training was meant to improve not just the culture of the company, but also the efficiency at which we operatedand that the goal was for the training to make everyones workload feel lighter. He did eventually attend and was there when I talked to the whole staff about identifying the root issue of a conflict and addressing that directly without bringing in other issues, which is how I aim to handle any disagreement in the workplace.
