Didnt even get a first-round interview. This program is ridiculously competitive. If you dont have FAANG on your resume, good luck. At the info session, they had past APMs who all interned at top tech companies, showing applicants that they have a great chance. My friend got an interview, and I shared one of the questions she got.

Consists of 4 rounds in total. Take home case, design interview, metrics and strategy interview, and final on site. Take home care is to come up with a new idea for uber. . The second round is a typical design interview. The third round, the metrics case is where I did not move to the next round.

Do You Have The Abilities To Execute Plans And Lead As Well As Vision

What is essential for a product manager is to have the ability to be a leader in the team, have a vision on what direction the product is going and be able to execute plans.What does this product look like in two years? is one of the questions that a product manager needs to be able to answer at all times. He needs to have a somewhat clear vision in his mind about the product.

Also a part of leadership is the ability to get along with the designers and engineers in the team. This is a crucial part of getting things done, and in an interview, you need to be able to prove that you can do it. Randys suggestion is to make a three-minute speech that proves that point. An important note is that it doesnt necessarily mean that you can get things done but that you can get your team to execute your vision.

    Rotation 1: I worked on Reservations, Ubers new schedule ahead product, in my first rotation. I was part of a vertical team that owned everything from how we priced rides and matched drivers to the design of the app experience. Our team builds scalable UX platforms that can be leveraged by stakeholders globally to provide Earners with tools to maximize their earnings with Uber.     If you’re applying for a Group Product Manager role, or something even higher up the ladder, then the jam session will look a little different for you.

    Instead of getting your prompt 24-48 hours in advance, you’ll typically get it a week in advance. And this is good news because you will need to prepare a presentation that addresses the question/problem in your prompt.

    Was contacted via email 3 days after my initial application for the role and informed to pencil myself in for an interview based on Interviewer’s availability on Calendly. Sent a chaser email to thank the Interviewer and indicate my looking forward to it.Interview was scheduled for 10 days later. Waited 45 minutes in the meeting room for said interviewer to show. Had sent a reminder email after 5 minutes and then a follow-up after the entire period.No follow-up, tried connecting on LinkedIn, no response either. Was completely ghosted by the organisation. Happy to provide proof of communications if necessary.

    Product Sense And Design Skills

    As with all leading tech companies, this is *the* critical category for PMs. It’s no different for Uber’s product managers either.

    Similarly to Amazon, Uber places a high premium on obsessing over meeting customer needs as a north star in its product development process. Here interviewers will be trying to assess the following capabilities:

    Let’s start by understanding what Uber looks for in its product management candidates. Browsing through Uber PM listings, here is a pretty typical summary of the requirements:

    A few things immediately jump out: relative to peer company PM job listings like and , Uber’s PM requirements are more role-specific .

    However, amongst the unique attributes, Uber also consistently calls out four key requirements for product managers: core product experience, data-driven decision making, technically fluent and customer obsessed.

    For Candidates Below Group Product Manager Level

    If you are applying for a position that is below Uber’s Group Product Manager level, which is likely the case for most candidates, then your jam session will be a bit like a brainstorming session.

    You’ll typically be given the “prompt” for your jam session 24-48 hours in advance of your onsite visit. The “prompt” is essentially just the topic or problem that you’re looking to solve. Having this advance notice will allow you to prepare some ideas, which is good because you will be expected to lead the discussion.

    Here’s an example of a prompt that you might encounter for your jam session: How would you make UberEats more usable during the Covid-19 lockdown?

    During your jam session, you’ll be discussing ideas with 1-2 Uber PMs as well as a cross-functional person from Uber . However, there will not be any other candidates included in your jam session, just you.

    âOne day, we noticed that there was a higher cancellation rate on Friday and Saturday nights. We called customers and found out that people were cancelling because they were in large groups and wanted to ride in a car together, but they couldnât fit into a sedan. So, in one weekend, we created UberXL with a view for all vans with 6 occupancy and changed pricing. This led to a benefit for drivers and riders were able to all ride in the same car while saving money. It was a win win win.â shares Kelly.

    âWe also had a program for drivers who are deaf or hard of hearing. We created a system where tells the rider that the driver is deaf or hard of hearing and there is also a sign on the headrest. We created events to onboard these drivers. It was really rewarding work being able to give someone who isnât independent access to a way to money and fulfillment.â
