Thank You Letter After Group Interview

How to Write a Thank You Email After the Interview & WOW Them!

It can be difficult to form a connection with the decision-makers involved in the hiring process during a group interview. Luckily, sending a thank you email after your interview is an easy way to leave a lasting impression in the minds of your interviewers.

A thank you letter after a group interview is helpful because:

  • It demonstrates that youre a thoughtful and courteous individual who understands the importance of professional politeness.
  • You can highlight relevant credentials or experience which may have been missed during your interview.
  • It gives you the opportunity to clear up any misconceptions or elaborate on a point in the interview you wish youd covered more clearly.

The Benefits Of Sending A Thank

Sending a thank-you email has a couple of important advantages over the old-fashioned, paper-and-ink variety of thank-you letter.

With an email, for example, you can do more than remind your prospective employer of your qualities and skills: You can actually show them by including a link to your online portfolio, , or professional social networking profiles.

You’ll also have the opportunity to mention anything you wish you had said during the interview, but didn’t get the chance to discuss.

Sending an email immediately after or within 24 hours of a job interview is crucial if the hiring manager will be making a quick decision.

Ideally, your note will reach the interviewer prior to a hiring decision and while your meeting is still top of mind.

Summarize The Interviews Highlights

When it comes to the actual body content of the email, in addition to thanking the interviewer, you want to focus on referencing two or three high points from the interview.

Mine your conversation for highlights by reflecting on these questions:

  • Did the interviewer make an interesting point?
  • Did something you discussed excite you?
  • Did you learn something new about the role or company?
  • Do you two have something interesting in common?

In your email, say you enjoyed learning about X. Or that you appreciate that the hiring manager shared Y. Or, when you heard them say Z, you became even more interested in the role.

Giving a couple quick highlights demonstrates you were an active, attentive participant in the conversation. Interviewers are looking for more than just the ability to do the job.

  • If you liked them, or if they were particularly friendly, you can say something like Thank you for making my interview today so pleasant.
  • If they were more businesslike, just say something like, Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today.

Sentence #2: Mention something that you liked about the interview.

Subject line: Thank you Client Success Manager interview
Hi Jessica,
Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with me today. I enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the position and the company.
After interviewing with you, I am certain Im qualified for this role. My experience as a Customer Service Manager at Silver Financial Solutions closely aligns with the functions of the Client Success Manager position at Cloud Nine Technologies. As discussed, I would be excited to implement more training materials and team-building exercises with fellow employees.
In addition, I enjoyed learning about the company. I was especially intrigued by Cloud Nine Technologys commitment to giving back. As a volunteer at my local Boys and Girls Club, I know how influential mentoring can be for at-risk children.
Again, thank you for your time. It was so nice meeting someone that loves plants as much as I do! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I look forward to hearing from you.

Be Your Best Self On Paper

Your cover letter and resume were all about representing the best version of your professional self, and this thank-you note should be no different. Dont resort to overly familiar language just because youve met someone in person, but also dont suddenly become cold and dispassionate. Keep the same tone you would in any other email to the recruiter or hiring manager, and if theres a place to remind them of your passion for the role, go for it!

The only thing you should avoid in a thank-you is trying to sell yourself once again. Youre writing this note to show you appreciate someones time, not to tell them youre awesome. Remember that.

Things To Avoid In A Thank You Letter After The Interview

Apart from failing to customize your letter, there are several other things to avoid before hitting the send button.

Make sure to read through it a couple of times to ensure there arent any errors. Look for typos and double-check whether youve included a subject. Also, make sure that the name of your interviewer is spelled correctly.

Next, focus on the tone and length of your email after the interview. Are you being formal enough? Is your email too long to be appropriate? Check your attachment section and make sure the attached document is the one you want to send to your employer? Your potential employer will be happy to receive a thank you note after an interview, but it has to be done right.

Why Is It Important To Write A Thank

Its true that some employers expect a thank-you letter after an interview. Its a gesture that reinforces your interest in the role, while also showcasing good manners. When you write a thank-you note after an interview, you gain yet another opportunity to influence your potential employer’s decision. If you write a thank-you note, you can reiterate your interest in and qualifications for the position.

A handwritten thank-you letter offers a personal touch and has the potential to set you apart from other candidates as many people dont mail letters anymore. However, it can take days for a mailed letter to arrive. The hiring process can move quickly so its recommended to always send a thank-you email, even if you decide to also send a handwritten letter. When you email, you can connect with the hiring team much more quickly and influence their decision before they complete the hiring process. Send your thank-you email no more than 24 hours after the interview.

Mention A Highlight From The Conversation

STOP Sending Thank You Letters After a Job Interview

Again, you want to keep this short and mostly focused on how grateful you are for their time and consideration. But to really stand out and remind the hiring manager of how wonderful the interview was , and remind them of who you are , briefly mention a highlight from the conversation or something you know they really enjoyed hearing or talking about.

For instance, if their eyes lit up and their ears perked when you talked about your excellent communication skills, touch on that again in your thank-you note. If you bonded over having graduated from the same college, a simple P.S. Go Wildcats! might put a smile on their face.

It sounds exciting, and I think I am the right candidate for the job, thanks to my years of experience in .

Thank you for the opportunity. Please contact me if you want to discuss it further.

Prompt To Take The Next Step

To close the thank-you note, encourage the hiring manager to take the next step in the hiring process. Reference what you learned during the interview to complete this section since you may need to provide references or complete a second interview to get the job. What To Do When You Are Offered A Job Position

This depends a great deal on your situation. The recruiter goes through a tough process deciding to offer you a job, but you have a lot to consider as well.

You should realize that when you are offered a job, either by phone or by email, this initiates a process of negotiation. One of the basics of negotiation is that you never want to be taken by surprise since it can lead to an irrational decision. Therefore, when you receive the good news that a company wants to hire you, follow this process:

  • Let the recruiter do the talking Have him/her share as much information as possible regarding salary, benefits, starting date, etc.
  • Ask clarification questions If there is anything that you are unsure about, try to get some clarity.
  • Dont act too fast The emotion of getting offered a job may push you to want to accept right away. However, recruiters often dont expect an immediate decision. Therefore, ask when they need you to make a decision. Chances are you will have a day or two to think it over. But if the recruiter wants your decision sooner, try to negotiate at least a couple of hours.
  • Again, its important not to overlook the importance of all the post-interview steps discussed above. And frankly, each of these steps is far less cumbersome than the amount of effort you put into building your resume, writing your cover letter and preparing for an interview. So stay focused and see the process through to the end.

    Dear Mr. Jefferson,

Thank you very much for your time yesterdayit was a pleasure speaking with you about the account executive role. From our conversation, its clear that ABC Inc. has the energetic and hardworking environment Im seeking.

I especially enjoyed discussing your need for someone who can create value and insight during client conversations. Its an interesting challenge, and Ive continued reflecting on it since our meeting. Over the last few years, Ive encountered many of the same roadblocks we discussed: tightening client budgets and lengthy decision-making processes. Prioritizing the quality of the conversation over simple information delivery has been one of my most successful tactics in overcoming those roadblocks and one reason Ive routinely exceeded my quotas.

In my relationships with clients, I focus on building trust and boosting credibility, and Im excited about the prospect of bringing that skill set to ABC Inc. If you need any further information, please feel free to contact me by email or phone.
