The Interview Was Nearly Two Hours Long
Originally slated to be an hour-and-a-half, the length of the primetime special was extended to two hours. After all, there was a lot to cover.
The interview consisted of two sections. First, Oprah had a one-on-one chat with Meghan, discussing everything from her expectations of life as royal, her son’s title , and her relationship with Kate Middleton. She also opened up about experiencing thoughts about suicide.
On his end, Harry touched on the connection he feels with his mother, Princess Diana, who also left the royal family after her divorce from Prince Charles. “I can’t imagine what it must have been like for her going through this process by herself all those years ago. It has been unbelievably tough for the two of us, but at least we have each other,” he said. Harry added that his biggest concern was “history repeating itself,” seemingly referring to his mother’s tragic death.

We’ve been building towards this moment since November 2016, when Prince Harry issued a statement calling out the abuse, harassment and racially motivated smears his then-girlfriend had been subjected to on a daily basis by Britain’s gutter media.
The obvious comparison is to the ordeal faced by Princess Diana, Harry’s mother, who lost her life in a car crash while attempting to flee from the paparazzi. What’s especially controversial is much of the backbiting and anti-Meghan sentiment can allegedly be traced back to Kensington Palace, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – who to put it mildly, are not on good terms with Harry and Meghan.
It’s the TV event of the year and no subject is off-limits, so read on as we explain how to watch the Harry and Meghan interview on Oprah online – stream it FREE on-demand from all over the world right now.
What’s The Background To Harry & Meghan’s Oprah Interview
The news of the interview was initially announced by CBS via a statement that was issued to royal expert Omid Scobie, which he then shared on Twitter. ” Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure,” read the statement.
“Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”
Re Oprah interview, BP say: The Duke& Duchess are no longer working members of the royal family and therefore any decisions they take with regard to media commitments are matters for them. As non working MRF they are under no obligation to inform the Royal Household of such plans
The interview, which has been described as an “intimate conversation”, will allow Meghan the freedom to speak her truth after years of relentless and often cruel media scrutiny. It comes after she recently won her high court privacy case against the Mail on Sunday for the newspaper’s illegal and dehumanizing practices” in their reporting of her.
The Sussexes have also been in the news after Prince Harry’s interview with James Corden, where he revealed why he stepped back , while also surprising us with the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air rap. Who knew?!

Why Did Oprah Winfrey Interview Prince Harry And Meghan Markle
Duchess Meghan revealed that she wasnt previously allowed to speak to Winfrey in a press capacity without the palaces approval, and the palace declined to go forward with a request from Winfrey from before Harry and Meghans royal wedding in 2018. Despite that, the U.K. tabloid media reported on the former Suits actress incessantly, and even when reports were false, The Institution wasnt allowed to comment or refute anything.
Were on the other side of a lot of life experience thats happened and we have the ability to make our choices, Meghan said of her choice to speak out now. As an adult who lived a really independent life to then go into this construct that is, um, different than what I think people imagine it to be, its really liberating to have the right and the privilege in some ways to be able to say, Yes, Im ready to talk. To be able to make a choice on your own and just speak for yourself.
Meghan also expressed frustration at The Firm not defending her but allegedly lying to protect other members of the royal family.

Super Bowl Xxxviii Halftime Show Incident
In 2004, the Federal Communications Commission imposed a record $550,000 fine, the largest fine ever for a violation of federal decency laws, against CBS for an incident during its broadcast of Super Bowl XXXVIII in which singer ‘s right breast was briefly and accidentally exposed by guest performer Justin Timberlake at the end of a duet performance of Timberlake’s 2003 single “Rock Your Body” during the halftime show . Following the incident, CBS apologized to its viewers and denied foreknowledge of the incident, which was televised live. The incident resulted in a period of increased regulation of broadcast television and radio outlets , which raised concerns surrounding censorship and freedom of speech, and resulted in the FCC voting to increase its maximum fine for indecency violations from US$27,500 to US$325,000. In 2008, a Philadelphia federal court annulled the fine imposed on CBS, labelling it “arbitrary and capricious”.
