Get The Hardware You Need
Whenever possible, always do your video call on a laptop with a webcam! The usual advice about dressing for job interviews applies here: dont wear anything flashy and emulate the dress code of the company. Dressing for the camera is a bit tricky though, so you also have to think of what works well on screen:

Your lower body may not be on camera, but you never know if a situation may arise that requires you to stand up. What if your internet connection goes down? What if your mic stops working and you need another one? You dont want the risk of having to awkwardly cover yourself while standing up.

There are two main things to consider here: what webcam you use and how you use it.
