Look For Blouses With Interesting Details
A blouse like the one shown here with a bow makes for an elegant look, which can be completed with either a skirt or slacks. Add a skinny waist belt for a touch of detail that makes the top pop. A skirt made of an interesting fabric or a simple black pencil skirt is a great way to make a business look your own.
Depending on where youre being interviewed, you can add a jacket to dress up the look.

Dress for the job you want
Whether youre going for a creative or a corporate role, dressing appropriately for the job can go some way to helping your chances. What you wear can have an impact on your interview, says Lizzie Dyer, recruitment expert at M& S. When you look good, you feel good and when you feel good, you feel confident.
For creative roles, what you wear can be a representation of your own brand and express who you are, so be yourself when selecting an outfit. Try to avoid clothes with big logos or with lots of patterns, as this can be distracting and take away from some important answers to support your application, Lizzie advises. Add interest to your favourite jeans with a trend-led blouse or add a colour-pop blazer to coordinating separates.
For corporate roles, try something smart and not too casual this will give off the right impression for the department you want to work in, says Lizzie. Our range of pure cotton chinos offer comfort without compromising on the dress code, while a sleek shirt dress in a subtle print allows room for a little personality.

Experiment With Business Casual Pants
Its rarely ever appropriate to wear jeans to an interview. However, if youre interviewing for a start-up company or are instructed to wear jeans, jeans are an option. Invest in a pair of nice-fitting dark wash jeans for such occasions.
Dark wash jeans are also perfect for casual Fridays or days youre permitted to wear jeans at work. Additional options for business casual pants include khakis and similar cotton-blend pants.

Interview Suiting For Women: Confused
I’ve been lurking on the forums for a while, and saw everyone recommending Navy over Black suiting, so I retired my black suit, and went and got a new one tailored in a rush for my interviews.
I’ve been interviewing for graduate roles in some institutional banks, including one of our Big 4 banks, a Big 4 consulting/accounting firm, and a Fortune 500 company for consulting.
But I’ve noticed often everyone except me is wearing a black suit, with some even with subtle pinstripes. There was one guy who wore a grey suit, and a few, but not many, charcoal suits. However, most people are choosing to wear black.
When I visit the federal law courts I see a lot of navy suiting, and when I meet with CEOs and Company directors. But on an entry level, I’m not seeing it.
Why do the forums seem to say black is a awful colour for suiting, yet everyone in the interviews seem to be wearing black? Is it that outside investment banking it’s not as important to differentiate between black and navy suiting? Or is Australian dress standards for business attire different to the rest of the world?

General Tips On Suits For Women
First, some general notes on buying a suit:
When constrained by budget: go for a black skirt suit rather than a pants suit, because pants fit is by far the hardest thing to get right. In my experience a $60 skirt suit looks OK but a $60 pants suit makes you look like you come from Planet Frump.
Furthermore, the skirt suit will go farther you can wear the pencil skirt as a basic bottom in your wardrobe , plus if you have a dressed up occasion, a skirt suit is always going to be the more formal option. Another pro for a simple pencil skirt: you completely bystep the trends that pants have been subject to the past few years to shop online youd think that cropped pants suits are de rigueur now, but they are still a fringe/trend item in a lot of workplaces.
Other trends Ive seen with suits: jumpsuits! culottes! short suits! You want 1) a pencil skirt + hip length jacket or 2) a fitted sheath dress + hip length jacket these combos have been in for years and probably will be for years to come.
If youre shopping online, look for words such as: seasonless wool, stretch wool, tropical wool, gabardine, triacetate. Avoid words like sateen, shimmer, linen. Crepe can be really tricky sometimes it means a polyester drapey blend for suiting and sometimes it means a bridesmaids dress/MOB type thing.

What Is The Best Bra To Wear Under A Suit Jacket
For a jacket to have a perfect fit you need to have the perfect bra. At Bluesuits before we put a jacket on you we have to make sure you are wearing the right bra. We recommend under wire contoured bras in nude specially if you are wearing a white shirt. You do not want a white bra under a white shirt, unless you want to show your bra. Even though the jacket is covering the shirt you still need to wear the right color. Le mystere Tisha bra or Gigi bra are great everyday bras.

Think Menswear With A Khaki Mix
A menswear-inspired khaki blazer is an extremely versatile piece to have in your wardrobe. Wear it with a button-down shirt or blouse. It looks great with a matching skirt, dark-wash jeans for a startup casual interview, or navy blue bottoms for a dressier look.
The button-down here might be a basic top, but the pink makes the look pop. With a shirt that has an interesting collar detail, you could choose to button it up to the top, eliminating the need for a necklace. Another option for a unique collar detail is a rounded Peter Pan collar.
Finally, a navy blue skirt is a stylish alternative to the traditional black pencil skirt. Its a bit more easygoing than the typical black skirt, but its still professional, creating a look that is relaxed and also refined.

Do Shoe And Handbag Have To Be The Same Color
The short answer is yes. For example if you are wearing black shoes, your hand bag should also be black, if you are wearing tan shoes your hand bag should be the same color as the shoes. It really starts with the suit, then shoes then the hand bag. If you are wearing a black, grey or Navy suit, you will be fine with black shoes and black handbag. Tan shoes can also look great with black or Navy and that is the color you choose to wear then you will match your handbag to your shoes.
