However, if youre in a more traditional or formal industry, or if you want to send a thank you note in the mail rather than email, one of the next two thank you note examples will be better.

Send The Email Within 24 Hours

When it comes to sending your thank-you email, dont delay.

Ideally, do that within 24 hours, Nelson said.

If you interviewed in the morning, send it that afternoon. And if you interviewed in the afternoon, send it the following morning.

A prompt note shows that youre responsive, a strong communicator with follow-through and that youre excited for the role.

If you wait two or three days to send it, though, the hiring manager might get a different impression of you that youre slow to respond, or not too interested in the position.

Recap Of Your Qualifications

Next, provide a short recap of your experience and background. The interviewer should already be aware of these qualifications after reading your resume and meeting with you, so this section should be brief. Phone Interview Thank You Email Example

Not too different from the sample email earlier.

Dear Ian

Can’t thank you enough for spending time with me over the phone and discussing the opportunity at Apple, Inc. It sounds like an incredible opportunity to learn about Product Management and how technology will advance with younger demographics.

My previous work experience in the education space makes me a great fit for this role.

I’m including a few of my projects and references below. Let me know how I can be helpful in moving forward in the process. Or if you have any further questions, let me know!

Thank you so much, Ian!

Melissa

Let Them Know That You Will Follow Up

Hopefully your interviewer will have provided you with a rough idea about when you should expect to hear from them by, so you can end your thank you note by letting them know that you will follow up again if you havent heard from them by that date. This will demonstrate your genuine interest and commitment to the role.

After The Thank You Notes Are Sent

If you dont hear from them for a couple of weeks longer than you expected, dont panic. MUCH could be going on that has nothing to do with you at all. But do reach out to see what is happening. Do NOT contact them daily or even weekly for a decision.

NEVER suspend your job search while you wait for a decision from an employer, even if the job is your dream job.

Restarting your job search can be challenging and, if youve been turned down, you may be more discouraged because you need to re-start your momentum.

Should You Send A Thank You Email After A Phone Interview

Job Interview Tips : How to Write Interview Thank-You Letters

Thanking interviewers with a letter or email is a must, regardless of how the interview was conducted. The job interview doesnt have to be in person for you to thank the interviewer for their time. This is especially true in the digital age and the work-from-home era, when a growing number of job interviews dont involve face-to-face meetings. Sending a thank you email after an interview over the phone is good practice. This is also true for a Zoom interview or any other virtual video meeting.

You should also send an email even if its your second or third interview round with the same hiring manager. Make sure to tailor these thank you notes to individual recipients. In other words, you should avoid sending a bunch of emails with the same exact content. One of the costliest mistakes you can make is to send the same note to multiple employers and come off as someone who doesnt have any understanding of individual companies.

Key Components To Writing A Thank

There are several elements to a good post-interview thank-you email. The tone and style of the thank-you note should match your personality, the position youre applying for, and the industry. However, there is a general structure you can follow, which weve outlined below.

  • Greetings. First, youll want to make sure you address the interviewer directly in the email, now that youve met them. Avoid using general terms like sir or madam.
  • Body. Begin by expressing gratitude for the opportunity and the time they took to interview you. Let them know youre very interested in the job and why youre qualified for it. Add a personal touch by recalling a specific part of the conversation during the interview.Next, add a call to action within the email. For example, you could offer to provide additional information, a portfolio, or a reference from a previous manager.
  • Sign off. At the end of the email add a professional signature that also has your contact information. Finally, send the email with a clear and concise subject line.

What To Include In A Thank

Here are the basic points you should include in just about any thank-you note you send after an interview, and a few optional ideas:

    • Express thanks for the interviewers time.
    • Briefly reinforce why youre interested in the job and why youd be a good match.
    • Consider adding something that you and the interviewer discussed while getting to know each other that makes the thank-you email more personal.
    • Offer to answer any questions they might have.
    • Add relevant examples of your work, or suggest a solution to a company problem that came up during your conversation.
    • Close your email by reiterating your appreciation for the interview and asking about next steps.

What Is The Thank You Letter After The Interview

Research shows that the majority of hiring managers consider the lack of a thank you email as a sign that a candidate lacks follow-through. Thanking someone for taking the time to interview you also shows good manners. And if you can show that you were listening attentively by mentioning a topic you discussed or naming people you met, the email tells the interviewer that youre genuinely interested in the position.

In short, this is another excellent opportunity to persuade the employer that you are the right person for the job.

A hand-written note telling the prospective employer, thanks for your time, can help you stand out from the crowd and set you apart from another job candidate who made a great impression. But sending a traditional letter to a digitally-focused company can suggest a lack of awareness and do more harm than good. Also, the letter might take days to reach the recipient. Such delays can help other job seekers get the position you were hoping for.

The right amount of research and mere common sense will help you decide whether you should send an email or a traditional letter.

Whatever you choose, you should never wait longer than 24 hours to send a thank you letter after a job interview. The conversation between you and the interviewer is still fresh, and the email will only reinforce the positive impression youve already made. So, it should land in your recruiters inbox the day after your interview, preferably between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

    Does Sending A Thank

It can, if the note is well written.

“There are times when the candidate has a terrible first round, usually due to nerves,” Smith said. “But they took the time to write a sincere and well-considered note explaining their interest in the role and how their experience makes them uniquely qualified.”

Other times, Smith notes, there are phone screens instead of in-person interviews, and those who write a thank-you note are automatically invited back for an in-person interview. Sutherland had a similar experience.

“I got my college internship at The Detroit News because I handwrote a thank-you note,” Sutherland said. “How do I know? One day in the newsroom that summer, the editor told me I was the only one who wrote a thank-you.”

“While not every recruiter or hiring manager cares whether a candidate sends a thank-you message, I’ve never heard of a single one, in any industry, think poorly of a candidate for sending a thank-you note,” she added.

Below, youll find four good sample thank-you emails. These can also be sent as a typed or handwritten note if you prefer.

Later in the article, Ill cover the pros and cons of sending this via email versus a handwritten thank you letter/note. So if youre not sure which to send, make sure to read until the end.

For now, just know that you can use these sample thank you emails in both cases.

    Finding The Perfect Job

For a lot of people, the law is all about lawyers. However, there are many different types of legal jobs. As a matter of fact, many people considering a career in law are actually thinking about being law professors and official court reporters. Figuring out what you want to do and deciding which job is the perfect fit for your ambition and talent is the first step.

From there, every job hunt starts with going through job postings. When you find the position you would like to apply for, you should start crafting the perfect resume and cover letter. Next, you should work on customizing the two for position ads that sound like they may be the right fit. You should dedicate a decent amount of time to customizing your resume and writing a unique cover letter. That same level of dedication is required for the thank you note.

Use Good Quality Thank You Notes Or Paper

If you are going to hand write your note, use standard thank you notes you find in a stationery/card store. Dont use fancy and flowery cards unless they are appropriate for the business , and avoid very small cards since that will limit your ability to include sufficient information.

Thank you notes typically fold in half with Thank you on the top and the inside blank. Hand write your thank you on the bottom half or the right half of the inside of the note, depending on how the card works, so that your note is immediately visible without having to turn the card to view it when opened.

If you are sending a word processed note, be sure to have good quality paper in your printer with, hopefully, matching envelopes for you to use.

    Why Write A Thank

    Best Thank

There are multiple surveys and research that support why sending one is key:

    • TopResume: A survey by TopResume showed that 68% of employers and hiring managers say writing a short thank-you note post-interview matters. In addition, they mentioned 16% of interviewers rules out a candidate if they didn’t send a thank-you email.
    • CareerBuilder: In a survey by CareerBuilder, only 57% of candidates sent a thank-you note after their job interview.
    • Robert Half: 80% of hiring managers agree that receiving thank-you emails after an interview is helpful in the hiring process.

This means that 31% of qualified candidates didn’t send any type of follow-up email after their interview.

It takes about 5-minutes to complete this note. It’s clear job seekers should spend a few minutes to send one once the interview is complete.
