If I consider a child to be unwell, I will do the following:

  • I will take the child away from others, lie him or her in a quiet and cool place
  • Check the temperature of the child
  • If I find the temperature is high, I will remove the childs excess clothing and then cool him or her down using a tepid wet face washer
  • Contact the guardian as soon as possible
  • I will then fill out an illness form and a child report for the guardian to sign as he collects the child
  • I will then make sure that I have disinfected all the toys that were used by the kid

What Strategies Do You Use To Manage Challenging Behaviorsin Children

If I notice that there are children who have difficulties in controlling their physicality, I avoid play that involves hitting and redirect them to games that require less contact. Under direct supervision, I also teach kids to play gently. I also keep good watch over children. When I realize that a child is angry with one another, I normally intervene before a challenging behavior happens. However, If I notice that the child is too upset to learn anything at that particular time, I redirect him or her to another activity until her or his emotions level out. I am also aware that sometimes a child may misbehave when she or he is tired, hungry, jealous, sick, bored, scared, or frustrated. As a daycare worker, I always try to identify the feelings that are driving the childs actions to know how to manage that child.
