What Is The Best Answer For Job Interview

What Not To Say

Top 10 Job Interview Questions & Answers (for 1st & 2nd Interviews)

This is not the time to be humble. While you don’t want to exaggerate your strengths, you should be comfortable articulating what makes you an ideal candidate. On the other hand, you do not want to answer this question with a laundry list of vague strengths. And neither do you want to seem boastful or arrogant.

As with any interview answer, it’s best not to ramble or speak for an eternity. Here are examples of answers that you shouldn’t give:

  • I am probably the most gifted applicant you will ever meet. Everyone says that I am extremely intelligent, hard-working, and a fabulous communicator.
  • My greatest strengths are writing, project management, quantitative research, event planning, budget development, and social media.
  • I’m a talented musician, the life of the party, and a great joke teller. I roll with the punches and don’t take defeats too seriously.
  • I should tell you about the time when our fraternity was under pressure. The president had mismanaged some money, and a lot of the brothers had gotten into trouble for hazing and partying too much. The dean called all the officers into her office, and they had a hearing about all our transgressions. I took over the leadership and turned things around, and we are now a well-respected fraternity with no problems.

Determine Your Soft Skills

As we mentioned above, soft skills are your personal attributes that enable you to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people.

In short, these are the skills you possess, that you can’t necessarily quantify. This is your EQ , not your IQ. Here are some examples of soft skills:

  • Having a strong sense of self-awareness
  • Being optimistic
  • Having patience
  • Being a good listener

When I started my first business, I pretty much only possessed soft skills. I had to teach myself how to create a product with absolutely no past experience. What I lacked in hard skills like coding talent, marketing chops, and writing abilities at the time, I significantly made up for in determination, optimism, and people skills that would help me build the meaningful connections I’d need, to get my business off the ground without doing everything myself. Later on, I trained myself to become proficient with the hard skills my business would need, and I painstakingly learned how to use all the best tools to start an online business.

In our comparison between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs from above, Jobs clearly possessed and leaned on his strongest soft skills, in order to champion Apple through to success. Gates, in the beginning, took the opposite approach and utilized his hard skills within Microsoft.

How Can You Improve A Dissatisfied Customer’s Experience

One of the many responsibilities of a customer service representative is handling complaints from unhappy customers. The hiring manager will want to ensure that you have the necessary skills and tact to manage these situations successfully. If you have experience solving a problem like this from a past position, you can reference it in your answer.

Example:”I’ve found the most successful strategy for turning an unhappy customer into a happy customer is by actively listening to what they’re saying. Sometimes, customers just want you to hear them, and they want to feel like the company cares about them and their opinions. For example, I once had a customer who got home to find there was only one shoe in her shoebox. She was very upset, so I let her tell me why she was upset, validated her feelings and provided her with a discount on her purchase along with the missing shoe. She left in a much better mood.”

How You Would Handle A Customer Who Was Upset About A Known Problem With Your Product Or Service

The hiring manager wants to know if you’re able to handle difficult issues, like a defective product. This is another great opportunity to share an anecdote from a past position if you have one. If you don’t, consider providing an example using one of the company’s own services or products.

Next, I would offer either a full refund or a trade-in for a different product. If the company issued specific guidelines to mitigate the problem, I would adhere to those.”

A good answer to this question:

Candidates’ answers will tell you about their prior success and sense of ownership. A great answer will show they are confident in their work and professional choices while being humble enough to show they care about the company’s success. For example, if a candidate built a sales or marketing campaign they’re particularly proud of, listen for them to explain how the business benefited from it. Did it help the company sign a major client?

I hate this question. It’s a total throwaway. But I did ask it once, and got an answer I really liked.

“I think people would say that what you see is what you get,” the candidate said. “If I say I will do something, I do it. If I say I will help, I help. I’m not sure that everyone likes me, but they all know they can count on what I say and how hard I work.”
