Meghan’s Passport And Driver’s Licence
Historian Robert Lacey explained that Meghan handing in her driver’s licence would have been a requirement under security rules, as she “would not be protected” if she went driving by herself. Royal commentators said that her passport would still have been used when she was travelling internationally â only the Queen does not use one â but that it would have been kept with other royals’ personal documents in a safe and accessible place, which “really was routine, and probably anything would be accessible to her if she wanted it.”

Flower Girl Dresses Incident
Months after Meghan wed Harry, a widely reported story, damaging to her public image, was published in the British media that she had made her sister-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, cry in a dispute over flower girl dresses. In the interview, Meghan insisted that the actual incident had seen the opposite occur, with Catherine causing Meghan to cry. Washington Post columnist Margaret Sullivan said Oprah Winfrey “proved herself to be the best celebrity interviewer ever”.
“Oprah best displayed her interviewing chops by relentlessly circling back to emotional or newsmaking comments like a heat-seeking missile,” Sullivan wrote in a Perspective column.
“Not much was allowed to simply disappear in a flurry of words, as happens far too often in interviews. Oprah did not let the couple get away with general hints or diplomatic niceties.”
Vox columnist Emily VanDerWerff also praised Oprah’s interview style, saying, “she was the only person who could conduct the Harry and Meghan interview”.
“Oprah excels at creating a friendly, warm atmosphere in which famous people feel as though they can share their innermost thoughts,”VanDerWerff wrote.
“It’s not clear how much the Meghan and Harry interview happened roughly as presented on television, or if it was edited to create a more coherent progression of its subjects thoughts .
“But Oprah’s genius lies less in the overall scope of an interview and more in the micromanagement of individual moments.

Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the “unity” and “dedication” of the British people in a speech on Commonwealth Day.
“Whilst experiences of the last year have been different across the Commonwealth, stirring examples of courage, commitment and selfless dedication to duty have been demonstrated in every Commonwealth nation and territory, notably by those working on the frontline who have been delivering healthcare and other public services in their communities,” Queen Elizabeth said. “We have also taken encouragement from remarkable advances in developing new vaccines and treatments. The testing times experienced by so many have led to a deeper appreciation of the mutual support and spiritual sustenance we enjoy by being connected to others.”
The Commonwealth Day broadcast aired on BBC and on YouTube, and featured not only the queen, but also appearances by Prince Charles, Camilla, Prince William and Catherine. Harry’s brother and sister-in-law, William and Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, held a virtual chat with healthcare workers.

What Happened During The Interview
During the two-hour sit-down, Meghan and Harry spoke at length about their experience as working members of the royal family, in which race, mental health, and many more issues were raised. They also discussed the harsh treatment they faced not only by the British tabloids but from members of ‘The Firm’ itself.
Among the most shocking allegations was that there were concerns and conversations about how dark their child’s skin might be from an unknown member of the family. Meghan went on to claim “They were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince or princess, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security.”
Meghan also revealed that during her time as a working royal, she experienced suicidal thoughts and sought help from palace HR, but was ignored.
“I was told that I couldn’t , that it wouldn’t be good for the institution,” Meghan told Oprah.

During the second half of the interview, Harry joined Meghan, revealing that he felt trapped and didnt see a way out of royal life, until his marriage to Meghan. Without question she saved me, he said.
In another segment, Harry claimed that his “biggest concern was history repeating itself,” referring to his late mother, Princess Diana, who was notably hounded by the British press before being killed in a car crash in 1997, after her vehicle was chased by paparazzi.
