Describe Your Daily Routine
This is a common question in interviews used to determine your main expectations in the new job and some of the things you regularly did in your previous job. Pick a busy day and explain it to the interviewer.
My day begins early. I usually report to the office and plan my day. I will then go through my emails, and answer missed phone calls before taking appointments. The rest of my day will be spent managing the executives diary, making travel plans, liaising with clients and senior staff members, arranging meetings and conferences, attending meetings, and taking minutes.
Have You Supervised Other Office Staff Members Before
This question allows you to explain your level of expertise and supervisory experience. If you are asked this question during an interview, then the job will likely require you to supervise others in addition to managing your own tasks.
Example:”I have supervised a small group of four team members, including interns and receptionists while completing my own work.”
How Do You Handle A Demanding Supervisor What Is Your Experience With Dealing With Difficult Visitors Or Callers
Its important that you remain pleasant and professional in a variety of circumstances on the job. Many executive assistants are often the face of the executives they work with, and the person who deals with clients or visitors first. Unfortunately, sometimes these people can be unpleasant. The interviewer is looking for your experience with handling these situations, as well as your ability to do so professionally.
Some skills to share include:
Ability to reflect professionalism and company values
Give an example of what you would do in this situation. For example, you may politely offer to take a message, reassure the visitor the message will be seen by the executive, and youll have them contacted as soon as possible. You may also provide the option of speaking to someone else who is available or can help resolve the situation faster.

Mention A Time When You Failed In This Job What Did You Learn
Admitting failure does not make you weak or incompetent. However, when answering such a question, make sure that you do not throw yourself under the bus. Do not mention an experience that will make you look incompetent.
I once failed to confirm the travel plans that I had made for the CEO of a company I was working on, which saw him miss his flight. However, we managed to reschedule, and he traveled later in the day. This experience taught me to be thorough in my job and not leave anything to chance.

Questions To Ask The Interviewer
Even if you ace all the interviewers questions, youll still need to present a few of your own. Questioning the interviewer helps answer some of your burning questions, and it also helps demonstrate that you have a vested interest in the position.
Question: I read about on . Would my position be involved in that?
- Why you should ask: It shows that youve done your homework, that youre ready to dive in, and that you have strong anticipation skills.
Question: Do you have any concerns or hesitations about my experience that I can address right now?
- Why you should ask: If the interviewers have any questions or concerns that they havent yet asked you about, then they will likely discuss them when theyre considering candidates. If you address these concerns head-on, then you might be able remove some of their hesitations, hesitations that might otherwise stop them from hiring you. In fact, your answers might impress them so much that you climb the ranks and rise to the top of the candidate list.
Question: Describe the day-to-day routine of this position.

Preparing For An Assistant Video Interview
The vast majority of recruitment agencies and employers now use video as part of their interview process because it saves time and money in the early stages of the interview process.
In our recent interview with Hayley Lawrence, PA, for the Regional General Manager on Necker Island, she told us that she had to submit a video before the interview rounds for her new role. Here is what she said:
When I saw the job being advertised online and gone viral, a friend joked to me that I should apply. Challenge accepted! So I made a short video and sent it off and didnt give it a second thought. When I got the email asking me to interview, I checked the email a few times to make sure it wasnt my friend playing a trick.
Never in a million years did I think I would be the one to get the job, mainly when I had found out over 5,000 had applied. One day after I had been through the interview process, I got a call from Richards assistant advising that he would be calling me shortly as part of the interview process. I couldnt believe it! I was on a train at Waterloo East at the time, and I remember frantically running around the station trying to find somewhere quiet to take the phone call. After Richard had told me, I got the job, and we said our goodbyes, I remember just bursting into tears in the middle of Starbucks and walking around the station in a daze.
