Interview With The Vampire Remake

Jacob Anderson Will Play Louis

Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire – Official Trailer (2022) Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid

One big change in the Interview with the Vampire cast will be making Louis a Black man in New Orleans. This also makes one big change to the character’s history. In the novel, Louis is a plantation owner. As a Black man in that era, he will become a brothel owner. As for the actor, Jacob Anderson takes on the role.

Genre fans know Anderson from his role on Game of Thrones, where he played Grey Worm. The changes to the character should be easy to pull off, especially with the talented Anderson behind the role.

What Is Interview With The Vampire Season 1 About

Here’s the official synopsis of the series from AMC:

“Based on Anne Rices revolutionary gothic novel, Anne Rices Interview with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac , Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudias epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to journalist Daniel Molloy . Chafing at the limitations of life as a black man in 1900s New Orleans, Louis finds it impossible to resist the rakish Lestats offer of the ultimate escape: joining him as his vampire companion. But Louiss intoxicating new powers come with a violent price, and the introduction of Lestats newest fledgling, the child vampire Claudia, soon sets them on a decades-long path of revenge and atonement.”

In the book, vampire Louis recounts his tale of becoming a vampire to a reporter, Daniel Molloy. The story spans centuries and features appearances from Louis maker, Lestat de Lioncourt, their vampire daughter Claudia and other immortals they encounter in New Orleans and Paris.

Louis, Lestat, Daniel and Claudia will be in the new series but its unclear how their stories are related.

While the first look photos look sultry and sensual and, we have to say, really great, we also have to point out that what they show us looks nothing like the 1994 movie, nor do they resemble anything that happened in the book. That said, hopefully everyone will keep an open mind.

The first photo features Lestat and Louis in snappy suits looking like theyre on their way to a fancy party.

Sam Reid As Lestat De Lioncourt

For our version of Lestat, what we get to do is go into the subsequent books that the film didnt get the chance to necessarily do, and we take that second edition that Anne sort of went on with and bring him into our story,”Sam Reid said of his new Lestat. “So hes a more complex character and you get to learn a bit more about his backstory. Not too much because he keeps his cards to himself, but you understand him a bit more I think.

Interview With The Vampire: The Cast

The cast features Jacob Anderson as the brooding Louis and Sam Reid as the devilish Lestat. Changes were also made to the casting, as creators were seeking out a Black actor in their 30s to take on the role of Louis. He will be an owner of brothels rather than a plantation owner from the books. Young newcomer Bailey Bass will take on the part of the precocious young vampire, Claudia, who was previously played by then ten-year-old Kirsten Dunst in the 1994 film.

The cast also includes Eric Bogosian taking on the role of Daniel Malloy, the reporter to whom Louis narrates his life story. The show’s character will reportedly be much older than the source text. Christian Robinson and Kaylne Coleman also join the cast in reoccurring roles.

Interview with the Vampire

While Louis has changed somewhat, it will be interesting to see what changes come to his partner in the novel, and one of the most popular characters in all of The Vampire Chronicles, Lestat. Sam Reid plays the antagonistic vampire, who would one day become a rock star.

This is the third actor to portray Lestat de Lioncourt, with Tom Cruise taking the role in the 1994 movie and Stuart Townsend taking on the role in the 2002 movie Queen of the Damned, which was based on the third book in The Vampire Chronicles series. Reid previously starred in Lambs of God and The Railway Man.

Alan Taylor Will Direct The First Two Episodes

On top of bringing in Rolin Jones as the showrunner, another huge name is coming on board to direct the first two episodes. Alan Taylor will helm those premiere episodes of Interview with the Vampire. This is huge because Taylor has extensive television experience outside of his more known role as the Thor: The Dark World director.

Alan Taylor worked on Game of Thrones and he directed “Baelor” in the first season, the episode where Edward Stark shockingly died. Taylor picked up an Emmy nomination for the episode. Taylor has also directed episodes of Lost and The West Wing, and he won an Emmy for his work on The Sopranos.

‘anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire’ Cast: Who Stars In The Amc Adaptation

AMC’s Interview with the Vampire is set in the modern day, with Louis speaking to Daniel in 2022 as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the world.

Louis previously met Daniel when he was a younger and they had initially tried to do their interview then, but they never finished and now the vampire feels it is the right time to start again.

With this in mind, Louis starts from the beginning of his tale and viewers are transported to New Orleans, in 1910, where the character first came into contact with Louis, and before they became entangled forever.

Rice’s novel also sees Louis and Lestat adopt a daughter, named Claudia, whom Lestat turned in order to keep Louis by his side when he considered leaving him.

Jacob Anderson takes on the role of Louis in the new iteration of Interview with the Vampire, and viewers may know him for his role as Greyworm in Game of Thrones, or from shows like Doctor Who and Broadchurch.

Lestat de Lioncourt, one of Rice’s most famous vampire creations, is portrayed by Sam Reid in the show. The Australian actor has previously appeared in films like Belle, The Riot Club, and The Railway Man.

Eric Bogosian takes on the role of journalist Daniel, and he is known as a writer, playwright, and actor in shows like Successionand Billions.

Anne Rice’s Interview With The Vampire – Official Trailer (2022) Jacob Anderson, Sam Reid

Its not an understatement to say that Anne Rices 1976 novel Interview With The Vampire and the 1994 film of the same name helped kickstart the modern obsession with vampires. Without Interview, we likely wouldnt have had Buffy, or Twilight or Vampire Diaries, among the more popular films and series that featured the moody bloodsuckers. Now, the late authors signature characters are being rethought for a series that AMC hopes will become the cornerstone of a new franchise.

May 5 2016, Updated 11:10 a.m. ET

A remake of Interview with the Vampire is on its way. Boone is working with writer and producer Jill Killington. The two worked together before on the drama film All We Had.

An Interview with the Vampire reboot was rumored back in 2004 when the rights to all of Anne Rices Vampire Chronicle novels, including ones yet to be written, became the property of Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment. It was also reported by the InquisitrJosh Boone would be directing the Interview with the Vampire remake, but Imagine Entertainment denied the rumors at the time. Very little details as to the progress of the movie had been released until recently.

Josh Boone was interviewed by Nightmare Magazine back in March and described the Vampire Chronicles movie project as hugely exciting and called Anne Rice a genius.

Were really focusing on The Vampire Lestat, but were using elements from some of the other books as well, Boone stated.

Bryan Fuller From Hannibal Was The Original Showrunner

If there is one showrunner who has several “what if” scenarios in his career that fans ponder, it is Bryan Fuller. After Fuller proved himself with shows like Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies, he became a major star when he brought Hannibal and American Gods to TV. He was the first person to sign on to Interview with the Vampire in 2018 as the showrunner.

However, as he did with several other projects, Fuller backed out. After Fuller left, the show moved to Hulu and then to AMC.

What Will Season 2 Be About

There are several Rice books that make up The Vampire Chronicles about Louis, Lestat, and others who enter their orbitbut based on the below quote from showrunner Rolin Jones, also from the press release, it looks like the seven-episode season 1 wont even finish the events of the first book:

Bulgaria. Romania. Paris. San Francisco. New Orleans. Dubai. The writing staff of Anne Rices Interview With the Vampire is honored, humbled, and hungry to add more stamps to our vamps passport books. All praises be to our fearless network, we shall endeavor not to screw it up.

Not to give it away and spoil the experience of Interview With the Vampire, but the middle section of the novel takes some of our characters out of New Orleans and to the continent of Europe. Its a wild, dramatic time thats going to make for a LOT of big moments in season 2 if it follows suit.

Vampires Aren’t The Only Ones Hanging Around New Orleans

Josh Boone Has Co

The bloody adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel rivals True Blood as the incumbent sexy, dangerous vampire program. The story justifies its changes by writing off Malloy’s first interview as a drug-addled fever dream. It didn’t need to since adaptations are meant to adapt rather than duplicate, but the decision set up timeline differences for Louis and Lestat. The most important aspect of this change is adapting the story and the Mayfair Witches’ story so that they may exist simultaneously in the same universe. Likewise, the New Orleans-based Mayfair Witches are bound to make changes to appease the timeline for AMC’s extended universe.

Finally aligned in the same time, place, and universe, Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire has opportunities to reference other properties in the Immortal Universe. Before discovering Lestat’s vampire nature, Louis tries to integrate him into his social group. Before Louis ever meets the vampire Lestat, audiences get a glimpse of his home life during a family breakfast. The meal comes with a heated discussion regarding Louis’ sister’s wedding and her decision to participate in the old marriage tradition of jumping the broom. Louis’ passionate Catholic brother voices his displeasure at her decision and suggests she pick up her broom from the Mayfair Sisters’ home, thus connecting their world to the chilling upcoming series.

Interview With The Vampire

Interview with the Vampire

Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, or simply Interview with the Vampire, is an American gothic horror and vampire television series created by Rolin Jones, based on the 1976 novel of the same name by Anne Rice. It stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as the vampire and Louis’ lover Lestat de Lioncourt, Bailey Bass as teenage vampire Claudia, Assad Zaman as ancient vampire Armand and Eric Bogosian as journalist Daniel Molloy. The series embraces the homosexual elements of Rice’s work, which are only insinuated in the 1994 film adaptation of the novel. It is the first television series in Rice’s Immortal Universe.

AMC Networks announced in May 2020 that it had purchased the rights to intellectual property encompassing 18 of Rice’s novels, primarily The Vampire Chronicles, and the possibility to develop feature films and television series from the deal. AMC gave an eight episode order for Interview with the Vampire in June 2021. Reid and Anderson were cast in the lead roles of Lestat and Louis in August 2021, followed by Bass as Claudia in October 2021. Bogosian’s casting was announced in March 2022.

Interview with the Vampire was renewed for an eight-episode second season in September 2022, ahead of its October 2, 2022, premiere on AMC. It has received critical acclaim, with praise going towards the writing, tone, costumes, soundtrack, production values, performances , and chemistry between the two actors.

Interview With A Vampire: A Disturbing Trailer For The Remake Of The Cult Film

The serial remake of the cult film Interview with a Vampire revealed itself in a disturbing first trailer in every sense of the word.

Since Neil Jordans very good adaptation was clearly not enough to satisfy the current audiovisual landscape and its perpetual lack of inspiration, there was talk, since 2016, of readapt in serial format the famous Chronicles of the Vampires by Anne Rice. Nevertheless accusing the blow of a difficult genesis, the project was tossed from executive producers to distributors, before the rights to the literary saga were finally bought by the AMC Networks chain in 2020 .

A pandemic later and the series finally launched for good, from unattractive first images and a mysterious teaser gave future viewers enough to form a first idea. Carried the actors Jacob Anderson and sam reidwho now lend their features to the characters formerly played by Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, Interview With the Vampirenevertheless took advantage of Comic-Con 2022 to unveil a new overview much more exhaustive than its predecessors but not more reassuring.

Without going overboard, these new images have something to raise some questions: wouldnt it be time, after two centuries of cinematography, to learn how to film night sequences without afflicting the image with washed-out colorimetry where the only element that appears distinctly to the viewer is its own reflection on the screen?

Yes, those lenses, officer.

Rolin Jones Is The Showrunner

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Trailer (2022) Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson

When Interview with the Vampire moved to AMC, the network found a great showrunner to take over the series. While Rolin Jones might not be a major name for mainstream TV fans, he has a solid list of TV shows to his credit. Rolin Jones took on the role of showrunner.

Jones received Emmy nominations for his work on Friday Night Lights, but it was his more recent work that made him a solid fit for this series. In 2016, he worked as an executive producer on the critically-acclaimed horror series The Exorcist, and Jones is expected to bring that same level of creativity to the popular Anne Rice series.

It Has Been In Development Since 2018

Interview with the Vampire was made before, with a movie coming out in 1994 starring Tom Cruise and the vampire Lestat and Brad Pitt as a wealthy plantation owner named Louis that he turned. There was also a sequel in 2002 with a new cast called Queen of the Damned. However, in 2016, Anne Rice re-acquired the theatrical rights to her books.

Rice wanted them turned into a TV series and in 2018, the news came that the rights were optioned and development began on the series. However, the showrunners came and went and it moved from one network to the next until May 2020 when AMC announced they acquired the rights and would move forward with the show.
